What is Pre-apprenticeship?

Pre-apprenticeship programs are stepping stones to get into the industry of your choice. They provide the training you need to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for entry into successful family wage careers and can provide the opportunity to advance to a Registered Apprenticeship program.

Examples of training content

• OSHA 10 | industrial safety
• First aid | CPR certification
• Basic hand & power tool use
• Trades math
• Blueprint reading
• Fitness & nutrition for the trades
• Flagger certification
• Forklift certification
• Interview & resume preparation
• Leadership & long-term career planning
• Industry speakers & site tours

• 18 years of age or older
• Eligible to work in the United States

• GED or high school diploma (or ability to finish before end of program; diploma from other countries accepted with transcript)
  
• Valid WA driver’s license (or ability to reinstate license before end of program)
• Pass drug test

Program Length/Credit

• Varies by program, generally 3 to 6 months, either part or full time
• Several programs earn college credit

Cost

Most programs are free. If not, several funding sources are available (eligibility requirements apply).
