Wage Range (Salaries are stated as an estimate only. Actual salary is confirmed only upon hire/job offer.)
$53,466 - $106,628 DOE
Note: Employees are paid the last working day of each month.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Certification Required: Current Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with Early Childhood endorsement
Position Summary
The Chimacum Transitional kindergarten teacher will teach a full-day kindergarten. This transitional kindergarten class serves as a bridge between pre-school experiences and kindergarten with a focus on kindergarten readiness for mostly four-year-olds. A team will help students learn skills and develop attitudes and appreciations which will support school readiness.

Supervision and Controls over the Work
The employee works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The employee’s work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform such classroom teaching and other duties related to the school program as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal or designee
Teach and follow the recommended District Student Exit Outcomes at each level and subject area
Keep current on educational research, trends, and practices
Integrate a variety of instructional strategies and curriculum content
Establish immediate and long range objectives in accordance with District and building curricula
Prepare effective plans to meet objectives; motivate students by making lessons interesting and challenging
Give explanations, reasonable and appropriate assignments, and directions clearly
Organize the classroom setting to contribute to the learning process
Evaluate individual student progress regularly and maintain records for report cards and/or parent conferences
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with building subject area teachers to develop and align curriculum, instruction, and interdisciplinary projects
Enlist the assistance of counselors, administration, and other support personnel where appropriate
Provide lesson plans for guest teachers
Establish clear parameters for student behavior in the classroom
Discipline students in a firm and controlled manner
Encourage students to develop courtesy, self-control, respect, and responsibility
Enforce rules throughout the school
Demonstrate continued professional development
Develop rapport with students as individuals in a professional manner
Participate in extracurricular responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Current trends and practices in education
Instructional theory and its application
Techniques to motivate student learning via inquiry, discussion, and application of knowledge
Organizing the physical and human elements in the educational setting
Instructional and non-instructional human dynamics
Standards-based instruction and familiarity with Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements
School board policies and procedures
ABILITY TO:
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Develop and maintain positive customer relations with staff and service providers
Work collaboratively with District staff and promote teamwork with coworkers
Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct including the requirements of confidentiality
Relate effectively with parents, staff, students and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

The employee may be required to travel on school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
