Description:

 

Position is responsible for promoting and teaching the system and techniques utilized by the eSports League and eSports Director in the establishment of a competitive eSports Program in accordance with the WSD eSports Advisor Handbook (2023-2024).  Position plans and conducts practices, motivates students, and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

 

Reports to:

 

eSports Director, Building Principal and/or the Designee.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Instructs players on the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organizes and directs individuals and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the eSports Director.
  • Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the eSports Director informed of the academic and athletic performance of students.
  • Supervises athletes during practices and competition.
  • Assisting with practices.
  • Assisting with gaming events.
  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athlete participation.
  • Attend organizational meetings.
  • Participate in professional development and become current to new strategies.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of events.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to school board policies, particularly those governing student nondiscrimination, anti-harassment, bullying, mandatory reporting, student record confidentially, and other pertinent school board policies.
  • Assist in the enforcement of the athletic code of conduct.
  • Collects and stores equipment and uniforms in an orderly fashion.
  • Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to athletes.
  • Performs support tasks such as monitoring student eligibility, securing medical release forms and other related records.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess effective advising techniques and skills, and/or a commitment to learn.
  • Must possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Some experience as an athlete or eSports Advisor is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, lead, and supervise student athletes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior advising experience.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • General knowledge of advising techniques and procedures.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
