The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Senior Specialist Supervisor (Maintenance Mechanic 4) to join our team. This critical position involves organizing, directing, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance for facilities and sites. The appointee will supervise and train lower-level trades personnel while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collaboration with other technicians and prioritizing safety in all activities are paramount in this role. What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Facilities Maintenance Senior Specialist Supervisor will:

  • Supervise facility maintenance personnel as assigned.
  • Plan, assign, and review the work of staff, adjusting assignments and schedules as needed.
  • Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
  • Assess the training needs of staff and arrange for or provide instruction.
  • Resolve staff issues, discipline, recognize employees, and counsel them in work-related activities and career development.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance work on WSDOT facility sites and buildings.
  • Evaluate and diagnose conditions and issues of building systems for repairs.
  • Develop repair strategies or coordinate with contractors as necessary.
  • Operate various equipment and work in hazardous conditions.
  • Purchase materials, maintain inventory, attend safety meetings, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
 
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Four (4) years of journey-level experience in a commercial building-related trade. 
  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Experience using a CMMS program for scheduling and assigning work. 
  • Experience estimating time and materials to complete maintenance/repair projects. 
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • Ability to work at heights greater than 50ft. 
  • Ability to occasionally work beyond scheduled shifts or be called in for emergency situations. 
  • Ability to work in hazardous conditions, including exposure to loud noise, high voltage electricity, elevated areas, confined spaces, and hazardous materials. Hazards also include working around machinery and the risk of slips, trips, and falls. 
  • Ability to stay out of town for overnight periods when necessary. 
 
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have the following:
  • Graduation from an accredited trade school. 
  • Building maintenance experience on a large campus with multiple buildings or with multiple concurrent sites. 
  • Building Operators Certification (BOC) level 1. 
  • Experience with and knowledge of interpreting plans, blueprints, and specifications. 
  • Experienced equipment operator. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs. 
  • The salary listed includes the legislative-approved 10% Group C premium for MM4 positions located in Shoreline, WA, King County. 
  • The salary listed includes the legislative-approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work.
  • The standard workweek for this position is 40 hours. The typical schedule is Tuesday through Friday, with 10-hour workdays from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, the employee may be required to adjust their work schedule or work additional hours beyond their scheduled shift to meet business needs.
