Title: Sr Design Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA - 98101
Duration: 6 Months +
Hybrid- Monday through Wednesday

Client:

  • Store POS+ App is part of a critical team of CLIENT's Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical, and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems, and solutions.
  • These technology products and solutions provide exceptional customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business.
  • The scope, responsibility, and accountability are at the level of outlining work beyond the scope of a single unit.
  • This level will support splitting larger designs into work units and can undertake and mentor other engineers across a broad spectrum of activities as needed.
  • The Store POS+ App team exists with the mission of powering the selling experience of our Salespeople within CLIENT's stores.
  • This team supports a portfolio of apps that span a full stack across a distributed system and network of devices within our 350+ CLIENT's stores.
  • This role will serve as your growth vehicle to leverage your existing experience developing front-end applications to build the future of our Point-of-Sale system.
  • We are looking for skilled experts in the front-end domain or full-stack who are open to purely front-end focused individuals or want to grow into a full-stack engineer or leverage previous full-stack experience.
  • You will get the opportunity to be one of the development leads on the large-scale development of web apps that will power the adventure of our customers and Salespeople.
Skills:
  • Help develop web apps, libraries, and services (if interested) that power our salesperson to sell to customers in stores.
  • Assist in mentoring a team of skilled engineers while you get direct mentorship and support to grow your career to the next level: design and Prototype. We love individuals who like to make things real.
  • In writing the code, we often realize the more significant implications. Seniors typically set the path and standards for the team.
  • Think in terms of telemetry and operations. Senior engineers are thinking about more than just the code they are writing today; they are also thinking about whether that will be maintainable, testable, or supportable.
  • We build our applications to be easily monitored to catch potential issues before they impact our customers.
  • On-call support - If Production is broken, we fix it because we care about our customers.
  • We also care about you and ensure we have scheduled on-call distribution across our team.
  • We are all human and need rest.
Education:
  • Have experience leading front-end React.js, React Native, JavaScript, CSS (Typescript, superset of JavaScript, MUI components for styling purposes, custom-written CSS, Redux for state management), or full-stack projects.
  • Have experience leading the development and delivery of large-scale, high-impact web applications. Think of the customer and how they will use the application and hardware.
  • What form factors? What defines success? This position is for you if you naturally think of the customer first. Think deeply about the underlying system that is running your code and how your code will behave in Production.
  • What Technologies look like. Front end - Web apps built on React.js, deployed to Kubernetes in the cloud.
  • Back end - Mix of modern Java web services and Kafka data streaming.
  • Services are typically deployed to Kubernetes in the cloud.
  • Naturally, our team is building the necessary composition APIs to integrate our Enterprise data sets as directly as possible into our applications.
Required:
  • Java
  • CSS
  • Web service
  • SREDUX
  • Kafka
