The�Longview WFD Volunteer�will perform a broad range of clerical tasks and program spesific duties that aid to our centers overall success.� This is an unpaid�position.��

Length of�volunteer opportunity�is based on need, performance, and availability of volunteer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn about different learning styles; demonstrate different learning styles to students

  • Provide extra assistance to students with special needs (non-English speaking, mental or physical disabilities)

  • Supervise students in classroom; assist with developing �soft skills�

  • Discuss assigned duties with teaching staff to coordinate instructional efforts

  • Assist teaching staff with development of lesson plans & completion of paperwork

  • Perform basic office duties: filing, data entry, copies, fax, scanning

  • Utilize basic office machines: copy & fax machine, phone, scanner & personal computer

  • File & maintain records

  • Prepare pre-enrollment files

  • Job search assistance

  • Make copies of recruitment materials for distribution at partner sites

  • Prepare materials for partner and participant meetings

  • Create and update flyers and other participant resources

  • Make follow up calls to participants to remind them of upcoming meetings and events

  • ALL other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: none

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School/GED preferred
  • Computer and Microsoft Office Suite certificate preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred

Language Skills: English fluency required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence, speak effectively with Goodwill visitors, customers, and employees of organization. Communicate well over the telephone and in person with employers, referral sources and participants.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the�volunteer �is regularly required to talk or hear. The volunteer is frequently required to sit. The volunteer is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The�volunteer is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close range, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Must be capable of physically performing tasks required of participant in order to model and demonstrate desired behaviors.

Technical Skills: Computer skills, data entry, organization and filing, customer service�and social service or educational setting experience.
