POSITION POSTING

  

The Moses Lake School District is seeking applications for a Special Education Teacher for the High School Summer Program. Submit online application with all required documentation.

 

Salary: $40.00 per hour

 

Summer Program Dates: June 13-July 18 (No school June 19 & July 4)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Washington State teacher certification with Special Education endorsement.
  2. Successful teaching experience in secondary Special Education using APEX/Odysseyware.
  3. Understanding of Washington state standards and HSPE preparation.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Coursework/experience that meets WAC and ESSA requirements that will allow candidate(s) to teach high school students.
  2. Middle School and/or High School teaching experience.
  3. Experience working with IEPs.
  4. Bilingual preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to work effectively with high-risk, low achieving students in all academic areas.
  2. Ability to manage classroom using a variety of techniques.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  4. Ability to motivate students using a variety of techniques.
  5. Exhibited organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  6. Knowledge and/or experience using technology as a tool for learning and data collection
  7. Knowledge of multi-level, multi-discipline curriculum.
  8. Experience with student discipline.
  9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist below-grade-level and/or students at risk of graduating maintain and improve academic skills and credits in a credit retrieval program.
  2. Plan and develop student learning plans for the summer program.
  3. Maintain student progress reports and records.
  4. Supervise nonacademic time.
  5. Provide instructional leadership; work to improve student learning for all students.
  6. Implement and follow district behavior plan; manage classroom behavior and discipline and report as necessary.
  7. Attend curriculum training sessions/offerings as necessary.
  8. Demonstrate excellent attendance.
  9. Articulate and support the mission, vision, core principles, and policies of the Moses Lake School District.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
