Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday $43 per hour
June 25th-August 1st, 2024 (No school July 4th)
Job Description

DESCRIPTION: The primary role of a certificated teacher is to maximize each student’s potential. This embraces all facets of the student’s environment; his or her home, family, school and community. Combined with information from other disciplines and agencies, the summer school teacher attempts to provide a sound education for all students. They work to help close the gap for students that are not at grade level, or to provide enrichment activities for other students as identified. Summer school will be on-campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
Knowledge of curriculum as well as demonstrate a satisfactory ability in the following areas:
Instructional skills
Classroom management
Interest in teaching pupils
Handling of student discipline and attendant problems
Preparation and scholarship/knowledge of subject matter
Effort toward improvement when needed
Knowledge of current issues and trends in education
Ability to conduct diagnostic/functional virtual assessments as a member of a team
Capable of providing teaching strategies to facilitate success according to individual student ability
Gather and analyze data
Evaluate program progress through student achievement
Communicate effectively with staff, parents, students and agencies when necessary
Demonstrate community awareness
Promote team building
Demonstrate Student Advocacy

Bilingual in Spanish


Reports to:
Summer School Director/Supervisor

Supervises:
No direct reports

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of the Common Core State Standards and the school district
Prepare, administer and correct tests and record results
Assign lessons, correct papers
Teach rules of conduct
Discuss pupils’ academic and behavioral attitudes and achievement with parents
Keep attendance, grade records, time-lines and attend virtual meetings and virtual trainings as required by district
Supervise a paraeducator as needed
Other duties deemed necessary and appropriate as assigned by the supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working area will be in a face to face classroom. Teaching assignment will be determined by the Summer School Director.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, lift, carry, move about, hear and speak. Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
