 Summer Program Head Cook Position

The Moses Lake School District is seeking applications for a one (1) Head Cook for the  Summer School Program. Submit an online application with all required documentation. 

Summer School - HEAD COOK

Middle School

Summer Program Dates: June 11, 2024 - August 9, 2024  (No school July 3rd or 4th)

(Paid by timesheet in two payments on July 31st and August 31st. (June timesheets must be submitted no later than July 5. July timesheets must be submitted no later than August 3.)

Hours per day: 6.5 hrs

Shift hours: TBD

Days per week: 5 days

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
2. Valid Washington State Department of Health Food Handler’s Card.
   
   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain industrial kitchen equipment.
2. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with district staff, students, parents, and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
4. Bilingual preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations; order products and supplies according to attendance and production requirements (written skills test required).
2. Knowledge and understanding of all O.S.P.I. requirements for food services.
3. Demonstrated ability to change menus based upon proportioned quantities.
4. Ability to complete production records and maintain accurate meal counts.
5. Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and positive working relationships with fellow food service staff and other district personnel.
7. Demonstrated punctuality and ability to maintain an excellent record of attendance.
8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with all aspects of meal preparation including food preparation, cooking, assembly, service, and clean-up of meals in accordance with MLSD Food Service policies and procedures and in compliance with regulations concerning meal pattern requirements.
2. Properly record and account for all served meals, as specified in regulations for the National School Lunch Program.
3. Order and receive food deliveries from the base kitchen and central warehouse as needed.
4. Follow proper sanitation, safety, and temperature control procedures in accordance with Washington State Health Department standards.
5. Maintain a safe work environment and report all problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
6. Complete paperwork as required by the Food Services Department. To include, but not limited to:
   
   
   • Meal accounting records
   • Inventory
   • Order forms
   • Government production records
7. Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Director.
