Position Summary:
As the Medical Services Program Manager reporting to the Associate Director of Medical Services, the incumbent will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of nurses and nurse practitioners, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, evidence-based practices, and appropriate scopes of practice. Drawing upon the charge nurse model, the position requires adept management skills to foster a cohesive and efficient team environment while promoting quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of registered nurses and nurse practitioners to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to nursing staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Implement and enforce clinical standards, protocols, and evidence-based practices to uphold quality care delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of nursing staff, providing regular feedback, coaching, and performance appraisals.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Medical Services to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote excellence in nursing practice.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies within the nursing department.
  • Manage staffing schedules, assignments, and workload distribution to optimize resource utilization and meet patient care needs.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new nursing staff, contributing to the development of a skilled and competent workforce.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and communication.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in nursing practice, healthcare technology, and regulatory changes, and disseminate relevant information to the nursing team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and evidence-based practice among nursing staff.
  • Act as a resource and advocate for patients and their families, addressing concerns, providing education, and ensuring their needs are met.
Clinical Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision for nursing team, as well as other clinical management oversight as appropriately assigned.
  • Encourage and guide staff in ways that are consistent with the mission and vision of Catholic Charities  
  • Continue program development in concert with the mission and vision of Catholic Charities
  • Establish effective communication with the staff, including feedback that facilitates professional and personal growth.  
  • Conduct annual assigned practitioner evaluations with the assistance of the Associate Director
  • Participate as a member of Catholic Charities Clinical Management Team
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires that physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements.  These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time.  Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision and skill.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Required
Experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience, preferred, in direct clinical treatment services with patients with mental illness.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Special Skills
  • Electronic Health Records skills (EHR)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Possess and utilize effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide service in a culturally competent manner
  • Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and as a team member
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community
  • Knowledge of team management/supervision
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
Licenses, Registration, or Certification
  • Licensed in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities liability insurance provider
Employment is conditional upon:
  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
