Overview:

The Pastry Chef is the leader and manager of the pastry section of the kitchen while working closely with the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef. This role motivates and manages staff members, creates new recipes, a variety of baked goods, and helps drive a positive work environment while maintaining food quality standards & cleanliness.

 

• Ensure quality of products served.
• Verify Banquet Event Order are fulfilled and speaks with clients to ensure satisfaction.
• Scheduling of bake shop associates.
• Developing all a la carte, buffet, and banquet menu items that are seasonally inspired.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the Pastry Department.
• Proper knowledge and understanding of all kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness. Reports on any malfunctioning equipment.
• Prepare a variety of cakes, pastries, pies, cookies, breads, doughs etc.
• The ability to decorate said cakes, pastries, a la carte desserts, etc.
• Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with a variety of people in cooperation with co-workers both efficiently & effectively.
• Always demonstrates proper food handling techniques.
• The ability to decorate cakes, pastries, a la carte desserts, etc.
• Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the Execute Chef and Sous Chef to ensure a successful working environment.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized bake shop.
• Ensure the Pastry section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations with high priority.
• Supervise, manage, motivate, coach, and train Pastry staff.
• Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation amongst team members.
• Provide critical and honest feedback to further develop the pastry team.
• Attends all employee meetings and bring ideas for improvement.

Compensation: $23.00 Hr

 

Qualifications:

• WA Food Handlers Certification
• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field
• ServSafe Certified

• High school diploma
• 5 or more years’ experience as a pastry chef or relevant role in a professional kitchen
• Associates Degree or better in Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry

• Requires knowledge of the specialized or technical field or a thorough knowledge and training of the practices and techniques of a professional field. May require knowledge of policies and procedures, and the ability to determine a course of action based on these guidelines

• Demonstrate ability to maintain a high level of output without sacrificing quality
• Able to demonstrate and maintain consistent and efficient performance
• Able to accomplish projects in a timely manner

• Participating in team meetings

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

• Demonstrates the ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Will require some guidance or clarification.

Compensation Range:The compensation for this position is $23.00/Hr. - $23.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
