DDSHS FFA Maintenance Supervisor 3
 
 Come and work with us and apply your trades' knowledge to supervise the delivery of facilities operations.
 
 As the Trades Manager, you'll have a vital role. We are eager to hire a hardworking, dedicated, and safety-oriented professional to join our team.
 
 Some of what you'll do: 
 Plan, direct and manage the trade programs for Western State Hospital such as:

  1. Carpenter Shop
  2. Electric Shop
  3. Machine Shop
  4. Paint Shop
  5. Life Safety Team
  6. Plumbing Shop
  7. HVAC
  • Train, develop, manage and supervise a variety of maintenance trade workers and general maintenance mechanics
  • Act on behalf of the Operations/Facility Manager as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all codes and requirements
  • Develop and maintain the trades budget 
  • Provide quality control with periodic inspections of work performed
  • Implement and evaluate workflow priorities
  • Develop and disseminate instruction and information to unit personnel
  • Negotiate work contracts and assure the compliance of facility-related certifications and audits
  • Develop operational policies and procedures
  • Implement and manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System 
  • Respond to Labor Union requests and conduct investigations
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to Shop Supervisors
  • Perform risk management
  • Be accessible to respond to emergent issues which arise in a 24/7 facility

 Who should apply?
 Professionals who have journey status as a trades-worker in one of the recognized fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, or sheet metal.
 
 Five years of work experience as a journey trades-worker, two years of which in a lead or supervisory capacity.
 
  OR
 
  Equivalent education/experience  
 
  Desired:
 
  • Extensive experience in all areas of personnel, including hiring, evaluating, training, and implementing disciplinary action.
  • Knowledge of vocation trades, building and grounds operations, and standards of practice.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the delivery of services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public.
