The Wave of the Future Preschool is seeking an assistant teacher for our preschool program in Seaview, WA.
Position start date May-June 2024.
Our preschool program is a Montessori based, child-led, arts & ecology program. Hours are between 7:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Most likely around 30+ hours/week.
Must be reliable, trustworthy, and experienced with children.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Montessori Guide by observing and offering help as needed to children while they learn in the Montessori classroom environment.
- Co-leading daily outdoor walks with the children in most weather, year-round.
- Assisting with daily rest-time preparation and supervision for napping children, quiet activities for non-nappers.
- Support the prepared learning environment by maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating indoor/outdoor classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
- Consistently modeling values like patience, honesty, accountability, understanding, respect, love, kindness and self-awareness.
- Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn and explore.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
- Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
Qualifications:
- Experience with early childhood education (ECE)
- Problem solver & community builder
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Positive Discipline
- Assistant Montessori Teaching Experience
- Montessori Certifications
- Experience working or volunteering in a Montessori, child-led, outdoor or nature based program.
Requirements:
- Proficient with email, google documents and spreadsheets.
- Background Check
- TB Test
- Minimum Age: 18
- High School Diploma
- Completion of Washington's Department of Children Youth and Families' childcare trainings upon hire.
