Summary: This position is responsible to support the continuum of patient care and quality of service by preparing, delivering and distributing food and beverages for patients, residents, staff and visitors while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
-Dietary Cook:
• Is the PIC, Person in Charge, and is responsible for supervision of shift employees in the absence of supervisory personnel
• Understands all therapeutic diets and corresponding menu standards
• Accurately prepares, assembles and serves quality food according to standard recipes, extended menus, diet orders and food preferences
• Assists with menu/recipe development and techniques
• Functions as a resource for team members
• Is responsible for opening and final lock up of kitchen
• Follows set policies and WA DOH regulations for food handling, preparation, assembly and delivery
• Follows set policies and WA DOH regulations for sanitation
• Washes, sanitizes and stores service and cookware in accordance with WA DOH standards utilizing a dishwashing machine and manual methods
• Is expected to successfully complete the SERV Safe Education Program after one year of employment
• As Aide, helps Cook with the opening and closing of kitchen and employee dining room
• Responsible for open and closure of register for daily operation; balances till drawer and keeps an adequate amount in the register throughout the day
• Accurately and efficiently rings up orders, maintaining an accurate account of transactions
• Receives and stocks inventory upon delivery from vendors; restocks products in kitchen/dining areas
• Regularly checks storage areas for cleanliness, organization, supply shortages and outdated products
• Maintains clean, orderly and well-stocked employee dining room and kitchen
• Helps with development, organization, preparation, and operation of external meetings and events
• Completes any and all necessary documentation
• Completes additional cleaning or other assignments as posted or requested by the supervisor
• Demonstrate knowledge of infection and exposure control in all patient care related to food preparation to prevent the spread of disease and infection
• Adhere to strict infection control guidelines for hand washing/hygiene and standard precautions, and blood borne pathogens as evidenced by appropriate use of personal protective equipment
̵ Barista:
• Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment.
• Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them.
• Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.
• Receive and process customer payments.
• Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels.
• Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.
• Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation.
• Take out garbage.
• Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.
• Create signs to advertise store products or events.
• Demonstrate the use of retail equipment, such as espresso machines.
• Set up or restock product displays.
• Other Duties as assigned by department manager

Qualifications:
Education: | Must possess a current State Food & Beverage Service Worker’s Permit. Must be 18 years old to apply. |
Experience: | Leadership abilities required; must possess knowledge of basic food and culinary principles. |
Skills: | Must possess basic math skills as well as the ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language. Must take SERV Safe Certification course and exam after 12 months of employment and continue to maintain certification while employed by CMC. Exams and test materials will be paid for. If employee is unable to pass the exam, CMC will not pay for additional exams. |

Specific Work Environment Characteristics include: Works in an area of potential hazards such as hot items, slippery floors and chemicals for cleaning. Low risk for blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases.
