Summary:The Housekeeper supports patient care and infection control goals of the organization by ensuring a clean and sanitary facility. This position is responsible for cleaning and servicing all hospital owned/maintained buildings, moving supplies in and around the department, and keeping public areas attractive and clutter free. Housekeepers are expected to be knowledgeable in the potential hazards of the cleaning compounds they use as well as versed in the proper use of these materials. This position acts as an advocate for infection control as well as a point of reference for safety; posting signs and looking for potential physical hazards on campus. This position supports the Housekeeping team in a manner that is consistent with the Mission and Vision of Coulee Medical Center.

Competencies/Abilities:
- Able to work in environment with frequent interruptions
- Develop working knowledge of all facility areas to enable a flexible daily schedule and performance of duties effectively and efficiently
- Use time efficiently in completing tasks
- Cleans and disinfect thoroughly to maintain sanitary, dust-free rooms.
- Maintain equipment and keep it clean and orderly
- Work independently and in pre-assigned areas
- Replenish supplies as needed
- Check daily discharges; cleaning and preparing room for next patient in accordance with departmental procedure
- Polish stainless steel and chrome fixtures and trim
- Thoroughly wash fire extinguishers and fixtures throughout the facility
- Maintain floors as required
- Clean and disinfect bed units when needed and/or when requested by Supervisor
- May be assigned to clean and service public waiting areas and bathrooms
- Request repair or maintenance for observed malfunction or ill repair of equipment, utensils or linen used patient rooms
- Stock, organize and maintain cleanliness of carts/closets. Cart is fully stocked and prepared for next use at end of shift
- Maintain interior/exterior cleanliness of all assigned equipment
- Advise Supervisor if and/or when supplies are low, supplies cause physical problems, supplies are not performing adequately equipment/storage areas need repair
- Demonstrate use of computer programs necessary to perform job functions effectively
- Encourage individuals to develop to their fullest capacity
- Identify safety concerns and reports these issues
- Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including handwashing techniques,
- standard precautions and isolation precautions.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Current and Valid Washington State Driver’s license.
Language Ability: Ability to read, write and speak English and follow oral and written instructions
Interpersonal Skills: ability to perform routine, often repetitive tasks; ability to perform tasks rapidly, independently and accurately; ability to remember details

The employee must:
Sitting: 10% Standing/Walking: 90%
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods.
Frequent lifting/carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 30lbs
Occasional lifting/carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50lbs
Frequent pushing/pulling of equipment and filing cabinet drawers weighing up to 30lbs
Occasional stooping/kneeling/crouching to access documents and supplies in lower cabinets.
Frequent contact with cleaning agents, required to wear rubber/latex free gloves
Frequent talking, hearing, seeing to interact with staff and vendors.
