This Co-Op Intern supports planning, directing, and execution of construction projects. The intern will work closely with Construction Engineers (CE) to gain the required skills and experiences related to construction techniques and problem solving that bridges planning, constructability, project phasing, and construction execution and closeout.
Essential job duties of this position include (under the guidance of Construction Engineers and Construction Managers):
- Provide design review and input for large construction projects.
- Performing field investigations to resolve construction problems.
- Provide field assistance during the execution phase of construction, conduct job walkdowns.
- Review of Subcontractor Material, Commodity, and Major Equipment Submittals.
- Assess compliance with design and specification requirements.
- Review Engineering Change Documents (ECNs) and Design Change Notices (DCNs).
- Support Construction Managers and Construction Engineers in maintaining project team communications on key tasks and activities to include internal and subcontractor communications.
Basic Qualifications
• Intern should be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Candidates should possess the following attributes:
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and familiarization with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Strong communication and grammar skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team to complete tasks.
The selected candidate shall expect that their office location will be in the 200E Area of the Hanford Site (which is approximately 25 miles north of Richland, WA).
Must have one college term completed and be currently enrolled as a full-time student, have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above, the availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and live within a commutable distance to the work site. This is a year-round internship.

• First or second year student preferred in order to fully benefit from program opportunities.
• Basic mathematical skills to include the use of databases and excel.
• Intermediate computer skills and familiarization with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Compensation & Benefits
Freshman - $16.60/hour
Sophomore - $18.75/hour
Junior - $25.50/hour
Senior - $30.09/hour
In accordance with the HMIS wage determination process, offers will be made by taking into consideration the degree program the candidate is currently enrolled in - or - scope of work the position will perform, grade level in school (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) as well as the external labor market. A candidate’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. The starting rates, and ranges listed (if applicable) represents the full wage scale that may be offered for this position.
