ERM is hiring a Principal Consultant, Health and Safety Consultant embedded at a key technology client location in Redmond or Kirkland, WA. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct inspections, investigations, safety observations, job safety analysis and risk assessments and resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate and control unsafe health & safety hazards or risks.
- Perform Safety risk assessments and implement effective programs, procedures, practices and standard work to ensure regulatory compliance and protect employees. This includes machine guarding and knowledge of automated equipment/ robotics.
- Support safety education/teaching in an R&D environment, while assuring safe operating procedures are implemented and followed to ensure the safety and health of employees.
- Investigate, compile and develop investigative reports on any incident/accident that may occur; and ensure action items are adequately complete. Conduct root cause analyses in conjunction with Operations leadership.
- Assist in the development of solutions to complex technical and regulatory issues and concerns.
- Engage with local regulators on topics including building code, fire code and building/environmental permits
- Enable our clients business objectives and help them achieve these objectives in essence become an extension of their EHS team.
- Implement innovative H&S programs and strategies in the areas of industrial hygiene, biosafety, safety management systems, process safety and risk management, high-impact training, and compliance support.
- Support our client's ability to identify programmatic needs among operational fires.
- Manage a variety of tasks to achieve scope, budget and schedule targets while ensuring we meet and exceed our clients' expectations on deliverables.
- Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to exceed their expectations.
- Delegate to and work with the project team to effectively implement assignments for client.
- Build a network within and outside of ERM that will enable you to leverage your skills and solve challenging multi-disciplinary client challenges.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to be seconded at a client site for up to 40 hours/week.
- BS/MS in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science degree.
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in working with significant private-sector clients in laboratory environments.
- Extensive experience in permitting, agency coordination, risk assessments, construction safety, and compliance assurance.
- Solid understanding of the relevant local, state and federal regulations and how they apply to specific industries; background in pharmaceutical/biotech desired.
- Responsible for implementing innovative H&S programs and strategies in the areas of industrial hygiene, biosafety, safety management systems, process safety and risk management, high-impact training, and compliance support.
- Experience in consultation, providing supervision, senior review and strategic direction on projects. Works independently to manage large and complex projects.
- Oversight of staff and complex deliverables.
- Responsible for formal agency filings, submittals, and certifications on behalf of clients.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple & technically assignments concurrently. Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills and strong focus on results, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and diverse environment, where support responsibilities may be shared by several parties.
- Ability to effectively communicate and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing including the ability to present tangible information to management. Able to effectively communicate up to senior leadership level.
- Ability to take action when changes in the working environment occur, and escalate concerns as-needed to management and other parties.
- Be ethical, responsive, and positive.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity from clients, regulators, and other stakeholders, and high sensitivity to proprietary information.
For the Principal Consultant, Health & Safety position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $125,000 $148,880 (USD). An employees pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
