SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTS
The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for evaluating work process to determine strategies and programs to provide greater productivity and efficiencies within our production facility. This individual will utilize project management and lean methodology skills to drive change initiatives and provide leadership to team members and collaborate with the management team for successful outcomes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Evaluate work processes to determine strategies and programs which provide greater productivity and efficiencies within the facility.
- Drive methods for efficiencies and reducing waste through deployment of lean manufacturing tools. This includes reviewing job duties, workflow, workstations, equipment, and processes.
- Utilize project management and lean methodology to lead and guide plant projects.
- Understand company P&L and demonstrate the ability to support EBITDA improvement through project definition and completion.
- Work cooperatively with team members and management to improve production processes, quality and safety within the facility while being a change agent for continuous improvement processes.
- Train employees as needed in aspects of lean manufacturing, team effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Coach team members on processes through actively engaging staff on the production floor.
- Actively review department shop floor metrics, visual controls, and continuous improvement methods on the manufacturing floor.
- Be able to track, analyze and execute quality and continuous improvement initiatives as determined from performance data and hold departments accountable for performance.
- Identify project opportunities to improve the business and support effective application of best practices SW, WOC and SOPs.
- Monitor internal and external customer satisfaction and establish positive partnerships with customers, suppliers, and team members.
- Organize, manage, develop, and implement project plans, processes and systems as assigned.
- Ensure and maintain housekeeping excellence.
- Demonstrate ability to execute projects in fast-paced environment and ensure that all production and reporting is completed timely and accurately.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Strong communication skills to engage, inspire and hold team members accountable.
- Speaks/Understands the language of management (money, time, organizational dynamics, etc.)
- Possesses managerial skills to lead highly effective teams which he/she will work on projects with breakthrough objectives and demanding deadlines.
- Teaches others on where, when, how and why to apply the 6 Sigma tools to areas of opportunity.
- Bachelors degree or Technical degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, and other industrial engineering tools/and or training preferred
- Proven track record of problem-solving skills.
- Ability to track and interpret data.
- Lead as a change agent to ensure lean processes are deployed with a sense of urgency.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- 3 – 7 years of management and/or continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing setting
