SUPERVISOR, STARLINK DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS
SpaceX has developed a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink is providing fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for organized, creative, and driven leaders to lead development operations (tooling, mechanical & electrical integration, and automation & controls) supporting the production of satellites and network ground stations. As the supervisor for Starlink Development Operations, you will manage a team of technicians and specialists while working closely with manufacturing and design engineers to support development projects which enable the design, build, and activation of new production lines and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and lead a group of tooling and sheet metal technicians that fabricate, build, commission, and troubleshoot all Starlink factory equipment and tooling
Manage tooling/testing equipment and infrastructure required to support engineering and production development projects
Provide mentorship to technicians and assist with design decisions, project strategies, and technical problems
Provide technical support and feedback to engineering groups on tooling, fabrication, testing, and maintenance
Ensure technicians and specialists on the team have the training, tools, and materials needed to carry out their duties
Identify and own projects that improve overall program success and progress
Improve factory safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
Enforce area standards and rules (includes bi-annual reviews, disciplinary action, time management)
Assist with recruiting efforts and hiring evaluations
Report on project status and critical path items to management and key stakeholders for alignment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or testing environment
1+ years of experience leading a team or project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Familiar with mechanical assembly, machining, and welding operations and best practices
Manual machining and CNC operations experience
Knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution (both low and high voltage), pneumatics
Experience working with electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics
Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety), NFPA 79, and/or UL 508a standards
Demonstrable hands-on skill in fault finding and technical problem resolution
Ability to bring multiple departments with different priorities together and support them in achieving common goals
Ability to coordinate multiple projects on a large scale with multiple stakeholders and deliver on schedule
Strong communication skills both written and oral
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Ability to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Supervisor, Starlink Development Operations: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
