Job DescriptionResponsibilities:
Health Information Specialist
Provide Medical Records support for one or more of the following primary responsibilities: coordinate tasks that support complete, accurate and timely processing of health information for use by healthcare providers, management and government/regulatory agencies. Coordinate the timely delivery of medical records to hospital staff. Prepare, index, review, evaluate, scan, and commit medical record documents to the Electronic Health Record. Provide technical support to maintain Health Information Management (HIM) computer systems and help resolve technical issues; assist in staff training and the development of instructional documentation.
Registration Coordinator
The role of the Registration Coordinator is an essential part of the patient facing registration experience by providing support and ensuring each patient encounter is positive, professional, and efficient. The primary function of this role is to create new registrations and check patients in for scheduled and walk-in clinical visits throughout the outpatient setting of the hospital. Support may be needed for Urgent Care, Radiology, and Access Clinic check-ins, operating seven days per week, during both day and evening times. Registration Coordinator duties also include: scheduling patient return visit appointments, minimizing clinic access delays, effectively communicating with patients/families, informing of and collecting signed consent for care, maintaining standards for infection prevention, and establishing systems and resources to improve processes and efficiency of the patient experience.
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Minimum of one (1) year office experience in a health care setting OR at least one (1) year of college coursework in a Health Information Management program or closely related field of study.
Minimum of one (1) year customer service and/or administrative support experience.

Preferred:
Previous work experience in a medical record or medical office setting.
Work experience or familiarity with healthcare clinical applications or software.
Some positions may require a valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
Must successfully complete and pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review by Seattle Children's Risk Management Office prior to start of employment.
Bachelor's Degree.
Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a health care setting or related field.
Significant experience working with the general public in a health care/customer service environment.
Familiarity with other cultures/bilingual skills.
Min to Max Hourly Salary:
$21.94 - $32.90 /hr
Salary Information:
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
