The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource (HR) department, including but not limited to hiring and interviewing candidates, employee leaves, employee engagement, and employee relations. This position reports to the Head of Human Resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Acts as backup to the Head of Human Resources, for the HR department.
Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Ensure that applicants and new hires have an exceptional experience during the recruitment and on-boarding process.
Actively engage with new hire while leading the on-boarding process including: drug screen, TWIC card, physical, setup of access, orientation, and day one on site
Serves as a point of contact for: employment, benefits, time keeping, payroll, employee relations, performance management, leave management and recruitment.
Oversees day-to-day employees' changes are inputted into HRIS and that end of pay period time keeping has been approved by management.
Manages the scheduling and planning of employee events including: annual town hall, open enrollment, employee off-site events for the Executive Team, etc.
Manages leaves of absences with professionalism and respect for our employees. Facilitates leaves of absences, proactively address and resolve routine and complex leaves of absence by applying policy knowledge, leave laws and experience.
Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
Advises managers on organizational policy matters and recommends needed changes.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by leading and promoting employee engagement, ensuring fair practices throughout the organization.
Ensures adherence to employment laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as recommended best practices.

Attend required safety trainings and meetings; follow all safety and health guidelines, standards, practices, policies, and procedures; and actively participate in the Husky's Emergency Preparedness program and activities
Position Requirements

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience working in Human Resources.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' Human Resources experience with all the core aspects of Human Resources
Preferred experience working with a represented workforce
Experience working with HRIS, UKG preferred
Experienced in the management of time keeping and payroll processing
Preferred experience managing HR team
SHRM or PHR certificate highly desired.

Ability to juggle competing HR priorities while staying on top of recruitment efforts
Knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law, human resources practices and employee relations including harassment/discrimination investigation and documentation experience.
Advanced problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to analyze complex situations from both a legal and human resource perspective and break them down into defined tasks and actions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems
Technically savvy and proficiency with Human Resources Information Systems, specifically UKG.
Knowledge of and commitment to safety and accident prevention, safety codes and regulations, and related industry governmental regulations
The ability to analyze collective bargaining agreements and interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract to apply on the job safety standards.
Required Credentials:
Obtain and Maintain TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
Valid US Driver's License
