INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Seeking a creative and self-motivated intern interested in the opportunity to work with our team and gain hands-on marketing and community relations experience. Under management’s direction, this position promotes the use of Grant Transit Authority to the public through focused marketing outreach; creates and coordinates community outreach projects and programs; creates an overall Agency marketing plan; administers Agency website and social media; performs activities related to all marketing and Agency promotions, including public informational and communication materials; develops and promotes Agency communication and branding, both internally and externally; and establishes community partnerships. As part of creating an Agency marketing plan, the Intern will provide recommendations for a permanent and ongoing Marketing Program for GTA to implement for future use and business development. Intern must have excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, knowledge of current marketing strategies and social media platforms, and the ability to establish marketing plans and strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Research and develop an Agency marketing plan to define and implement a marketing framework which will assist with identifying opportunities, strategies, and actions to drive Agency growth and increase community awareness, use and involvement in GTA’s transit system.
- Develop tools and methods to collect market data and feedback, such as surveys, polls or questionnaires.
- Design and present new social media and marketing campaigns.
- Monitor social media platforms for current news, trends, ideas and content feedback.
- Design and produces a variety of materials for marketing purposes to both English and non-English speaking audiences, for both internal and external use, including but not limited to: advertisements, newsletters, flyers, posters, signage, brochures, photos, videos, and web-based outreach media; drafts press releases and assists with the publications, communications and Agency branding.
- Coordinate community-based activities including marketing campaigns, site-based promotions, special events, sponsorships and cross-promotions. Coordinate with local jurisdictions, partner agencies, press and advertising contacts, and community vendors and partners. Represents Agency in community events.
- Performs community outreach, including members of the public, businesses and schools. Performs other duties as assigned, needed and/or required of a similar nature or level to make GTA an outstanding transit agency.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Applied understanding of basic marketing principles.
- Knowledge of the elements, objectives and purposes of a marketing plan.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms.
- Resourceful problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and with a team.
- Basic photography, image and video editing, and graphic design skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSING AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or current enrollment and successful completion of introductory courses in an Undergraduate program in marketing, communications and/or business administration or closely related field.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office and experience with Adobe.
- Familiarity with marketing software and social media platforms.
- Solid business acumen, community-oriented and communication skills.
- Current and valid Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record level throughout internship, which will be monitored by periodic reviews of Motor Vehicle driving profile.
- Successfully pass pre-employment criminal background reports and drug and alcohol screening.
- Work schedule is part-time, variable hours to average around twenty (20) hours per week. Internship not to exceed fifteen (15) weeks. Must be willing and able to attend evening and/or weekend events and work varying hours and days of the week.
COMPENSATION
Temporary position is not benefits-eligible.
Wage Range: $18.00-$21.00 per working hour. DOE/DOQ.
