Requisition Summary
The Procurement Consultant of Advance Vehicle Systems role includes the development of procurement strategies for vehicle-related hardware or software and is responsible for supporting internal business units, functional groups, and associated stakeholders to execute strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management initiatives.
Responsibilities include the development of negotiation and management strategies of all aspects of PACCAR's commercial relationship with the assigned group of advanced vehicle technology suppliers. This role includes recommending strategies regarding contractual requirements to meet the company's goals of quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and total cost.Strategies developed by this role will have a significant impact in PACCAR's development of connected, autonomous, hybrid and electric vehicles.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Develop strategies resulting in maximum PACCAR value through key supplier selection, enhanced product quality, innovative technology and improved supply chain performance.
Prepare recommendations for PACCAR management worldwide to successfully develop and execute global supply-chain, commodity, and technology strategies.
Investigate and propose new technology strategies related to autonomous and electrification vehicles; batteries, battery management system, enclosures, and battery cells .
Investigate and propose new procurement strategies and logistical opportunities.
Analyze suppliercapabilities and propose suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR's requirements.
Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with management.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies and business requirements are met, collaborate with stakeholders to develop negotiation strategies.
Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities for improving manufacturing efficiencies, and propose solutions to resolve chronic supply and quality issues.
Travel to PACCAR's global operating locations to develop strategies for the above activities
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, marketing, engineering, materials, or related PACCAR experience
Identify negotiation strategies and pertinent cost drivers for hardware and software commodities
Ability to monitor and report on the progress of negotiations and advise management on best practices, strategies, and solutions
Provide expertise with the sourcing of components related to autonomous, battery electric vehicles, and/or fuel cell vehicles, or related fields
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic
Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Access, & PowerPoint)
Project team participation and/or project management
BA degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, MBA preferred
