Summary of Duties:
The Washington State University, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor - Career Track faculty position on the Health Sciences campus in Spokane, WA. This position is a fixed-term, full-time, twelve-month, annual appointment with the possibility of renewal. Expected start date for this position is July 1, 2024.
The responsibilities of the position are teaching (65%), student recruitment (20%), programmatic development (10%), and service (5%). The ideal candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence; the ability to mentor a diverse student body; interest in contributing to the service, equity, diversity, and inclusion missions of the college and campus; and an ability to enhance the curriculum and promote the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences (BSPMS). The BSPMS is a new program in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and this an exceptional opportunity to join the department to help develop and promote this unique program.
Required Qualifications:
• Earned Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, biology, biochemistry, genetics, or closely related field.
• Two years of post-doctoral teaching and scholarly experience.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses with student-centered pedagogy practices, in both didactic and discussion-based formats.
• Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in undergraduate STEM education.
• Ability and desire to work collaboratively in a departmental setting.
Additional Required Qualifications for Candidates at Associate rank:
• Current or previous appointment at the Associate rank or equivalent at a post-secondary institution; OR experience determined to be equivalent.
• Record of accomplishments applicable to the sub-track in teaching and/or service activities commensurate with college and university standards for Associate rank.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience mentoring graduate teaching assistants.
• Familiarity with literature on undergraduate teaching and learning

Annual Salary:
Teaching Assistant Professor Rank: $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience
Teaching Associate Professor Rank: $120,000 - $140,000 commensurate with experience

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This is a temporary, fixed-term, 12-month, career track position which is intended to be renewed annually dependent upon performance, funding, and mutual agreement.
Screening Begin Date: Screening of applications will begin March 18, 2024, and will continue until a suitable candidate has been identified.
Background Check: This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need.
