Job Title: Quality Control Technician I

Reports To: Quality Assurance Supervisor / Manager

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring company standards are met on each shift. The QA Technician works alongside production, logistics and maintenance staff to support the production of high quality, safe and legal product.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Perform pre-operation inspections at start of production.
Verify cleaning and sanitation of production equipment.
Perform line clearance and change-over inspections
Collect samples at various stages of processing
Verify Bar Code Scanner
Monitor sample products at various stages of processing, including Brix, pH test and water activity. (Perform checks if needed)
Monitor Batch Sheets, Upstream Product Testing, Flow rate sheet, Down Stream Product Testing, Display and Master Case Check, CCP for accuracy and completion.
Examine finished products by sight, taste and weight to ensure conformance to company and legal standards.
Monitor routine checks for product packaging quality, including date codes, film seal and palletizing formation. (Perform checks if needed)
Set up and monitor challenge of metal detector and x-ray machines. (Perform checks if needed)
Calibrate equipment daily, including pH meter, refractometer, water activity meter, and table scales.
Enter data in the QC daily workbooks daily.
Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Policies.
Responsible for Food Safety and reporting any non-compliance issues to their immediate supervisor.
Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices.
Assist in training of new employees.
Perform weekly verification of temperature in coolers and change out graph.
Perform internal QC audits.
Sign off on positive release of finished goods.
Assist production where required
Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous QC or manufacturing experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Good verbal, written and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to use critical thinking to plan and problem-solve.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Must be available to work rotating shifts: days, afternoons, nights.
Must be available to work occasional weekends.
Must be able to lift approximately 30 lbs.
Must be able stand/walk for majority of shift.
100% of work involves being in the manufacturing environment
