The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions of server related chassis product designs with electronics integration in alignment with the product development strategic direction. The candidate will help innovate future generations of hardware products by understanding our customers needs and translating them into functional solutions.
As a technical lead of the engineering development team, the Principal Engineer will participate in the specification, design, and test planning for the next generation product platforms. The design tasks may be technically sophisticated and require investigation of new technologies and the application of advanced engineering design principles and analysis.
Job Description:
The Principal Mechanical Engineer will perform some or all of the following:
- A mechanical lead responsible for mechanical project tasks of greater complexity than those normally assigned to Senior level and lower engineers
- Provide technical guidance to lower level mechanical engineers. May be a technical lead of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Define and update design requirements and specifications in accordance with manufacturing, customer expectations, and mechanical requirements
- Identify and analyze design problems to achieve optimal solutions that satisfy cost and technical requirements using both internal and external resources.
- Communicate project tasks and activities and manage your time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information at key milestones through clear oral and written communications
- Engage in continuing learning activities in new technologies and skills
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill for the Principal Mechanical Engineer Position
- Ability to design and solve engineering problems with minimal assistance
- Ability to break down a project into tasks for a project schedule
- Ability to provide technical leadership for mechanical engineering projects
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on the guidance of Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.
- Demonstrated strong mechanical design skills
- Shown communication skills within a multi-functional team environment
- A CSWP (or equivalent) in SolidWorks CAD software
- Shown experience in structural analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics using SolidWorks tools
- Experienced in tolerance analysis and/or GD&T
- Ability to enter BOMs and change control initiatives
- Microsoft office tools
Minimum Education Requirements
- BSME and a minimum of 15 years of mechanical engineering experience
- MSME and a minimum of 13 years of mechanical engineering experience

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $147,030.00 - $220,546.00
