Site Coordinator: Tonasket Middle/High School
40 week program: 36 week school year, plus 4 week summer program.
12-week summer hiatus -- contract
PAY RANGE: $42,500 - $50,000 depending on experience. (Equivalent full time pay of $56,600 to $71,400) 7-hour/day, 5 day/week
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is to support a 4-year (September 2023 – August 31 2027) Department of Education/Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction supervised federal-grant project partnering Altera (aka NLA Group) with the Tonasket School District, for extended day learning opportunities for students needing remediation, acceleration and enrichment for junior and senior high students. Site coordinators hired will have responsibilities to design and oversee after-school programming with a focus on math, reading and science for students grades 6-12 middle school and high school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training/Experience:
- A completed Bachelor of Arts degree (MA preferred), in education, public administration, youth development, counseling or related fields; consideration for students nearing BA completion.
- Teaching or training experience highly desirable.
- Consideration will be given to individuals who have supplemented their work experience through training or coursework and relevant work experience including working with elementary youth.
- Experience in managing and directing similar programs may substitute for some portion of the educational requirement, with the expectation that the candidate is pursuing completion of a BA.
- Three or more years of first-hand experience working with low-income or disadvantaged youth K-12 in academic remediation and/or enrichment, and/or youth development activities including leadership and/or recreation, with some demonstration of supervisory experience and ability.
Able to:
- Manage, supervise, and direct program operations, including hiring and supervising tutors as appropriate for staffing levels, plus design program activities for students and some evening activities to engage parents.
- Design, implement and oversee all assigned-building 21st CCLC Project activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, data personnel and counselors to identify and recruit students.
- Follow district and building guidelines for student safety, supervision, and safety procedures in the building.
- Continually evaluate program activities and bring continuous improvements.
- Identify, recruit, and coordinate available community resources.
- Assist state project supervisor in support of all program efforts.
- Maintain proper cost accounting records for all expenditures working with fiscal staff at Altera, the agency providing program oversight.
- Maintain records for the project and provide such records to the project supervisor upon request.
- Collect appropriate data for student enrollment and participation, as well as develop programs that bring in parents.
- Assist in building family literacy activities in association with NLA staff.
- Assist the Project Director and other supervisory personnel (Dr. Barbara Peterson, Altera; Dr. Susana Bonis, Project Evaluator) in efforts to evaluate program effectiveness.
Relevant Experience and Skills:
- Demonstrated success in coordinating resources from local and community-based organizations.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and administering similar programs for youth especially academic remediation and enrichment; and/or youth programming.
- Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources.
- Broad-based understanding of the cultural, economic, and social issues facing low-income and disadvantaged students and families in the Hoquiam community.
- Spanish language skills desirable; ability to engage with a diverse parent group is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people, including local service providers such as schools, local colleges, community service organizations, as well as students from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
- Strong administrative skills and experience.
- Sensitivity to cultural and community norms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Creative problem- solving abilities and flexibility with program design and implementation.
