DESCRIPTION OF WORK – SPECIFIC
You will be working as part of the Equipment Qualification (EQ) Group. The EQ Group consists of Equipment Environmental Qualification (EEQ) and Procurement Engineers (CGD) and will interface with Equipment Seismic Qualification Engineers (ESQ). The ideal candidate will be leading the key EEQ activities up to and including generating the final Equipment Qualification Packages (EQP’s). The ideal candidate will have solid experience in detailed evaluations and documentation of EEQ efforts with an emphasis on nuclear safety, nuclear licensing, and design basis requirements applicable to safety equipment. Specific knowledge of IEEE standard 323-83 and associated IEEE standards related to EEQ is a must. You will be providing technical leadership during reviews of discipline material requisitions, specifications, calculations, datasheets, and supplier submittals in support of the issuance of the EQP.
- Prepare, coordinate, and review designs, studies, reports, and proposals.
- Must have the ability to work independently, use engineering judgment, and devise new approaches to solving problems.
- Executes environmental engineering major deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria utilizing approved engineering procedures and practices.
- Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
- Support the procurement of equipment by reviewing procurement packages, review of vendor submittals and resolution of technical issues during the procurement of plant equipment.
- Review and disposition of field change notices, non-conformance reports, and condition reports.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Level 1 - BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college with 6 years of related experience.
- Level 2 - BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college with 9 years of related experience.
- Related experience includes but is not limited to Environmental Qualification of components, Environmental testing of components and materials.
- Must be able to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
- Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products.
- Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline.
- Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of typical design features within discipline.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Professional Engineers license (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
- Experience with production of specifications, safety analysis report updates, safety envelope evaluations, application of DOE-STD-1020 requirements, and overall system evaluation for DOE nuclear facilities.
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
- Specific knowledge of the relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory guides used within the DOE nuclear complex.
- Working knowledge of IEEE standard IEEE 344-87 and the concepts of seismic qualification as related to environmental qualification Knowledge of the concepts of design validation, qualified life, equipment aging evaluation, qualification margins, configuration control and maintenance requirements as related to nuclear equipment qualification Experience reviewing equipment environmental qualification plans and reports, preparing qualification requirements documents and auditable qualification packages Experience in interfacing with nuclear safety equipment suppliers and testing organizations for evaluation of qualification capabilities and overseeing qualification testing.
