Laboratory Technician

PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for a Laboratory Technician to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Tacoma, WA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing construction material testing.

How you'll make an impact at Intertek:

Performs Construction Materials Laboratory Testing services
Creates reports and enters data gathered from laboratory tests and observations
Handles laboratory equipment, including calibrations and keeping track of maintenance
Physical laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with DSA, AASHTO Caltrans and ASTM procedures
Audit & accreditation support and administration
Performs other duties as required

What it takes to be successful in this role:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required
2+ years' experience in materials and testing laboratory environment is required
One or more of the following certifications: ACI, CALTRANS, or NICET is required
Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
Must be customer focused and quality driven

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, move, push and pull 10 to 30 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
Ability to climb occasionally
