Althea’s Footwear Solutions is looking for a motivated person. The successful candidate will be trained to become a Certified Pedorthist. There are relatively few in the United States, so you will belong to a small but essential group of highly trained professionals. You will be able to identify foot problems and how to mitigate them with the proper shoes, shoe modifications and orthotics. You will be trained in the manufacture of orthotics using the proper materials according to the problems being solved.

Job description and requirements
You will be managing your daily patient appointment schedule and handling patient Pedorthic fittings. You will make any adjustments to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work. In addition, you will be instructing the patient and their families on the use of the Pedorthic devices (i.e., diabetic shoes and custom orthotics), and follow-up with patients and physicians when applicable.
You will collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient’s need for Pedorthic devices in relation to their disease and functional loss and recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary.
Job Qualifications
- We are only considering candidates who will work toward completing the certification process to become Board Eligible or have a current board certification in Pedorthic through the American Board for Certification (ABC) Orthotics, Prosthetics, Pedorthic or the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Deliver exceptional customer service and use good judgement and decision-making skills.
- Above average interpersonal communication skills are required, which includes the ability to conduct productive phone and in-person conversations with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
- General knowledge of insurance companies with understanding of authorization, verification of benefits, co-pays, and co-insurance is preferred.
- Must have competent computer skills including typing accuracy and Microsoft Office programs.
- High attention to details and strong organization skills are critical for success.
- Ability to efficiently work in a medium to high volume work environment, independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Must have a genuine care for others with having their well-being at heart
- Knowledgeable in procedures to assure confidentiality of patient information
- Must have a High School diploma or GED.
