- Small vessel operations

- Boom and anchor deployment/retrieval
- Skilled equipment operations including, but not limited to, pump operations and hand tools
- Limited maintenance and vessel repair under MSRC direction
- Deployment, retrieval, and processing of sorbent materials
- As opposed to NOT having guaranteed work, applicants for WSMC pool have on-call duties for which they will get paid $30day
- On-call for week-long periods
- Must be able to answer the phone and respond to incidents at any hour of the day during the on-call period
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Must be close to Westport during on-call periods
- Must own steel-toed boots, type III PFD, and hard hat
- 8-hour annual HAZWOPER training & half-mask respirator fit test (Global provided)
- FCC Radio Operator License (Global provided)
- Initial 24-hour HAZWOPER training if needed (Global provided)
- 100T/200T Inland-Oceans, AB, or Tankerman License
- Ability to leave with very little notice and work five or more days in the case of an oil spill
- Ability to work long hours in all weather conditions
- Availability to work after-hours emergency response
- Ability to operate oil spill recovery equipment and deck machinery
- Ability to act as a helmsman
- Ability to operate communications equipment and bridge electronic equipment
- Ability to operate small boars, use firefighting equipment, operate safety equipment, operate the cargo transfer pump, and operate the anchor winch.
- Knowledgeable in vessel refueling
- Ability to lift 50lbs repetitively and stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day, including carrying items on flat ground or up and down stairs; pushing; pulling; squatting; crouching; bending or stooping; crawling; kneeling; climbing stairs and ladders; and/or repetitive reaching or other repetitive hand use, in any and all weather conditions (sun, rain, sleet, and snow).
- Ability to meet DOT, USCG, or HAZMAT Physical & additional fitness ability requirements for the position in which you are filling.
- General vessel navigation, rules of the road, communications, and seamanship
- Demonstrated understanding of OSHA/WISHA rules
- Located in or around Grays Harbor or Westport
Required Experience:
- Boat operation or deckhand experience is a must
- 24 hr or 40 hr Initial HAZWOPER training
- Marine experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
Compensation and Benefits:
WSMC Response Worker position has the following pay rates:
- $30 per day for being On-Call for WSMC
- $21.50 per hour while filling an unlicensed position (regardless of the grade of license held by the employee), plus mileage, per diem, and lodging, if applicable.
- $17 per hour for HAZMAT physicals with an 8-hour minimum, HAZWOPER refresher training with a 6-hour minimum, and Random Drug Tests with a 4-hour minimum.
- Mileage is reimbursed at the standard government rate.
- $35 per day for per diem when applicable.

Job Location: Westport, WA
