This position will be assigned to a small group self-contained classroom and may also be responsible for a one-on-one student support. Requires work with students that may be medically fragile and requires support in academic areas as well as behavior, adaptive and social emotional. In addition, provide support to teachers by assisting special education students with physical and instructional needs, including tutoring and overseeing student activities, and assisting teachers with the production of educational materials and student instruction. The position will assist students with daily living and self- care needs to include toileting.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; be exposed to childhood diseases; be exposed to, or responsible for, potential health and safety risks and discomfort incurred by students or self; experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, parents, community and staff; demands of constant change; exertion, including fatigue and concentration; deal with distraught or difficult individuals. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel; stand for prolonged periods; lift at least 50 pounds; and be exposed to high noise level. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to wear protective gear or clothing. Position may require operating a motor vehicle on public roads to travel between school sites.
