Full Job Description: Head Up Dog Training is Seattle's best and largest dog training company. We specialize in helping dogs with fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression. At this time we are the only company that deals with these issues in Seattle proper. Dogs and their owners depend on us to help them find harmony in their relationships. We believe in the power of science based, balanced training. We strive to be fair, balanced, and innovative with our clients, dogs, and employees. We encourage our employees to constantly improve their abilities and seek out learning opportunities. We provide home based board and train programs, private lessons, group classes, and pack walks to our clients. We may assist owners with anything from basic obedience to aggression. We are searching for applicants who are experienced, friendly, trustworthy, and versatile. You must have a wide range of knowledge and experience in dog training and behavior. We are seeking trainers familiar with with many training tools and methodologies.Duties:• Housing and training 3 board and train dogs at your home per month. • Meeting with clients for private lessons or private in home lessons. • Attending bi-monthly pack walks and assisting dog owners in controlling and training their dogs. • Meeting with prospective clients and evaluating dog behavior in order to recommend training programs.• Clearly communicating with clients and teaching them how to train and handle their own dogs. •Attending company meetings and PR events.Requirements and Qualifications:• 3+ years experience as a professional dog trainer. • Fluent in the science and art of dog training. You must be familiar with the scientific and psychological basis of balanced dog training.• Must be experienced and comfortable working with dogs that show dog aggression, human aggression, separation anxiety, and other behavioral problems.•Must be able to read dog body language effectively.•Excellent sales and communication skills. • Graduates and attendees of the Tom Rose School, Tarheel K9, and the Michael Ellis School are preferred, but not required. •IACP members and certified trainers preferred but not required • Experience with working dogs, service dogs, and sport dogs is preferred but not required.• We prefer applicants who work and train with their own dogs. Benefits and compensation:•Starting at $25 per hour, 40 hrs a week.•Two off days a week on Tuesday and Wednesday.• One week free of board and trains every month, if you would like to set up your schedule that way.• Worker's Compensation.• The rights and benefits of a legitimate employee - we believe dog trainers should never be independent contractors!• No work on holidays • We encourage continued education and will pay for seminars, schools, and conferences. (Ask us about this!) • $1000 relocation bonus and temporary accommodations. We realize the best applicant for us may not be in Seattle, or even the state of Washington.
