The surveillance observer requires a certain level of expertise, through experience and special training, which qualifies him/her as knowledgeable in casino operations; internal controls; surveillance systems; game protection; cheating techniques, and methods of observation. In addition, they possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of Tribal/Federal minimum internal controls relations, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, (IGRA), and the Tribal/State Compact.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required: A minimum two years of experience or specialized training in the surveillance field or at least two years experience of working in the gaming industry (Proof of such experience or specified training will be required). Recommended: A strong background in a regulatory environment with experience in detecting infractions in internal controls, gaming laws, and tribal ordinances through observations of behavior is desirable.
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak intelligibly and effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Must have strong project management skills and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
This position will require testing to ensure that the applicant meets the qualifications and skill sets needed to be successful in this position. This testing will include both a gaming knowledge and report writing component.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to maintain Washington State Class III Gaming License and possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
