If you want to work for a respected organization whose purpose is to ensure that tax dollars are spent honestly and efficiently, you should consider a career at The Office of the Washington State Auditor.
In these tough financial times, the people of Washington expect government organizations at every level – from small towns and school districts up to state agencies – to work as efficiently and effectively as possible. Through the skilled financial, performance, and accountability audits they conduct, our staff can take pride in the role they play in helping government work better for all of us. For example, in the past two years, our performance audits have identified more than a billion dollars in potential cost savings, uncollected debt and unnecessary spending. Our office completes more than 2,100 audits every year. Our auditors have an opportunity to work on an array of audits across the state and take pride in the role they play helping governments work better, cost less and deliver higher value. We ensure each auditor is given training, mentoring and coaching through their professional development plans to ensure their knowledge and skills advance in line with their aspirations. Within the first year of their career, an auditor can expect to complete several in-training promotional steps. Our formal in-house training program supports continued professional development.
