Title: Heavy Highway Laborer
Purpose of Position
Safely perform a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance and installation of traffic and highway signs, and temporary and permanent median barrier.
Education, Training and Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma/GED preferred.
Licensure/Credentials:Current Washington State Driver’s license in good standing. DOT medical card and first-aid certification is required.
Physical Demand:Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal rangeWork is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
Equipment Used:Two-way radios, cell phone, forklift, power tools on occasion, carpenter tools, safety gear.
Hours of Work:Work is performed at various times of the day/night and some weekend work depending on the project.
