The Director of Development position for the College Education and Professional Studies works closely with the Dean by providing leadership and support for college development and fundraising activities at Central Washington University. In collaboration with university advancement leadership, the incumbent designs and implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward major gifts (defined as $25,000+) from alumni, parents, friends and other university constituent groups primarily in Washington State and may include other regions nationally, as necessary.
Alumni/Donor Outreach:- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects through a minimum of 144 significant face-to-face discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits annually in support of Central Washington University by matching and advancing the college’s fundraising priorities with prospective donors’ interests.- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 self-qualified major gift prospects; develop and document written cultivation and solicitation strategies/proposals, purposefully guiding donors to make major investments in Central Washington University, and develop relationships to maximize their giving potential over time.- Meet explicit annual performance objectives determined in partnership with the position’s supervisor, including the completion of personal face-to-face visits with assigned prospects and donors.- Monthly solicitation and close goals with a like number of other actions (phone calls, emails, personal notes) each month.- Responsible for prospect and donor identification, cultivation and solicitation in assigned college based upon the identified core initiatives of the university.- Liaison to college/units for guidance and engagement in the advancement priorities of that unit.- Develop detailed knowledge of college programs and activities necessary to enagage donors and prospective donors.- Participate at the leadership level with college deans and department chairs and faculty on all development/fundraising based activities.- Partner with Alumni Relations Office for development.
Strategic Reporting and Tracking:- Coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations with other Central Washington University representatives, including the dean, key faculty, and volunteers as appropriate. Ensure appropriate stewardship plans are prepared, and activities conducted, for assigned donors.- Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship actions in the form of contact reports, stage updates, and strategy statement updates and revisions on Raiser’s Edge.- Participate in the prospect tracking and moves management process in alignment with established procedures and protocols, through reporting on results, calendar plans, documentation of strategies, and participation in prospect-focused meetings.- Develop succinct but strategic briefing materials in support of the work of college leaders and partners in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts associated with prospects and donors.- Other duties as assigned.
Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience
Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch), with some weekends and evenings
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Attendance at University and College events and functions which may occur in the evening and/or weekends. Extensive travel away from the office is required.
