Substitute School Bus Driver

Substitute bus driver is responsible for the operation of school vehicles under all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to, fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow and ice. Performs minor maintenance and related services. This is an on-call position with no guarantee of hours.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods; climb or balance; and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel. The employee frequently is required to experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, parents, community and staff. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and operate cleaning equipment. The employee is exposed to bodily fluids and cleaning materials, requiring the use of protective gloves.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), must be 21 years of age; minimum five (5) years driving experience. Valid Washington State Driver’s License and insurable driving record, with possession and maintenance of valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger, air brake and “S” endorsements; or the ability to obtain a Class “B” CDL upon completion of the training course.
Required Testing Pre-employment Proficiency Test
Current CPR/First Aid certificates.
Satisfactory completion of drug testing is a condition of employment and continued employment, and is a part of the District’s employment process.
Training Rate: $14.50 per hour for hours spent training to be a school bus driver for Tukwila School District up to a maximum of forty (40) hours. These hours will be paid once the driver completes the training and is hired as a substitute bus driver and completes a solo regular route.

Evaluation responsibilities are assigned to the Director of Transportation with input from Dispatcher/Driver Trainer.
