JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Van Driver
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
FSLA: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part Time/Casual: 12 hours per week (Wednesday-Friday)
WORK SCHEDULE: Weekdays, 9:45am-1:45pm
DESCRIPTION
Ensure delivery of food and supplies to community dining sites and meals to homebound elderly persons.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Transport food and supplies to community dining meal sites in Kitsap County.
2. Deliver meals to homebound elderly people.
3. Assist at Meals on Wheels Kitsap community dining meal sites as needed.
4. Operate company-owned vehicles in various traffic and environmental conditions, on schedule to various locations in a safe, timely manner.
5. Act as courier for records, messages and donations to and from the Meals on Wheels Kitsap office.
6. Perform pre- and post-inspections on assigned vehicle and report on any mechanical service needs.
7. Perform special tasks and errands as needed.
8. Maintain a satisfactory working relationship with clients, volunteers, staff and the general public.
9. Attend training and/or staff meetings as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Valid driver’s license, personal auto liability insurance and a satisfactory driving record with no moving violations in the past three years.
3. Physically capable and willing to lift large, heavy boxes (60+ lbs.) in and out of company-owned vehicles.
4. Good communication skills and the ability to relate to, deal effectively with and identify needs of older people.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Possess and maintain food handler’s permit (may obtain after hire/fee is reimbursed).
7. Pass criminal background check.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
