• This person will help meet tax deadlines seamlessly, from organizing relevant documents to using accounting software to prepare a trial balance to using tax software to prepare tax returns and following established firm procedures.
• The ideal candidate has experience in accounting or tax preparation and is committed to remaining up to date with changes in tax law.
• The tax preparer should also have a knack for assisting others and the ability to self-review their work before submission to their supervisor.
Objectives of this role
• Prepare reports and tax returns by the established deadlines, preferably without need for revision.
• Use comprehensive tax knowledge to maximize benefits and deductions.
• Assist other team members with tax and accounting projects.
• Communicate with supervisors on new ideas for tax filing, preparation, andrecord-keeping.
Responsibilities
• Review various client documents to prepare tax returns and provide tax services.
• Develop research skills to assist supervisors with tax and accounting research.
• Learn to use various software programs to assist in daily job duties.
• Interview clients when necessary to determine the best ways of addressing their needs.
• Prepare continuously for major tax deadlines throughout the year.
Required skills and qualifications
• Five or more years of experience in public accounting and/or tax planning and preparation.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solvingskills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Registration and/or licensure with applicable regional agencies.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant software, such as Intuit QuickBooks (Online or Desktop), Tax Software, Microsoft Word,and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred skills and qualifications
• AA degree(or equivalent) in accounting or finance
• Professional certification (ex: CPA in the United States)
